In Hungary there are almost 200 touristically significant baths, which last year had received almost 31 million visitors, and the development of which will continue in the next EU programming period as well.
By this time healing and thermal baths of Budapest have become a dominant tourism actor of solid capital, said László Szőke, chief executive officer of Budapest Spas Plc.
He added that out of the 3.9 million visitors arriving to Hungary almost 1.5 million have visited some of the spas in Budapest. When speaking of the developments, the chief executive officer explained that within two months all the seven thermal baths of Budapest will have open-air pools operating in the wintertime as well.
A further objective is to transform the hot-water open-air beaches into baths, which could then operate the whole year. A long-term development concept aims at building medical hostels, since currently there is no such institution in Budapest.
