The passenger information system in metro underpasses will be renewed

The passenger information signs in the capital cities’ metro underpasses have in the meantime become obsolete, it is hard to read them today, moreover, information updates have gone unsystematic, and the boards were frequently covered with advertisements.  Due to these reasons, the Centre for Budapest Transport is going to renew the passenger information system in the metro underpasses, using financial sources provided by the Municipality of the City of Budapest.

As compared to the earlier one, the new system is broader, more informative, and its visual look becomes more pleasing and modern. A new feature is that with the aim of helping orientation, the exits of the underpasses are marked with letters. Orientation is also supported in every underpass by maps of the surrounding area. The primary color of the information signs is dark blue, so-called Budapest-blue, and the appearing texts (primarily the names of public areas) are white, helping readability through color contrasts. The pictograms of the easy-to-review boards are in the color of the concerned sector, and these colors also appear at the numbers of the lines.

Passengers may see the new image first in the underpass at Ecseri út, then changing of information boards during this year continues at the underpass of Örs vezér tere, and then in other important junctions as well.
