The first hybrid bus is already in service

The fleet consists of 28 newly purchased hybrid buses. The first bus has appeared on line 7

​The first brand new diesel-electric articulated bus has entered scheduled service on January 17th. Out of the 28 buses 25 will be running on a daily bases, and thanks to these fully new vehicles soon the capital of Hungary will operate one of the biggest hybrid bus fleets in Europe.

According to plan by 2018 exclusively low-floor buses will be operated along the whole network of Budapest. All vehicles are air-conditioned and will be equipped with the onboard computers of FUTÁR. There will be also 11 onboard cameras to ensure the safety of passengers.
 
The hybrid buses are powered by a diesel engine combined with an electric system. According to manufacturer’s data, these vehicles can save up to 35 percent of fuel during their operation if compared to diesel-powered buses.
