The first full-figure public statue of Ferenc Puskás has been erected in Óbuda

The first full-scale public statue illustrating Ferenc Puskás, the legendary soccer player of the „Golden Team”, has been erected in Óbuda. This piece of art was initiated by the Municipality of Óbuda-Békásmegyer and the Óbuda-Újlak Community Association, it illustrates a scene, where kids in Madrid are watching Ferenc Puskás juggling in a suit. Hundreds of people attended the inauguration on Thursday.

Finally, the widow of Ferenc Puskás, Balázs Szeneczey, Balázs Bús and György Szepesi have together unveiled the multi-figure monument, where the representatives of youth teams competing in the Puskás Suzuki tournament, representing Puskás Academy, Budapest Honvéd, Hagi Academy, Melbourne Football Institute, Panathinaikosz and Real Madrid have laid their own wreaths.

The first full-scale public statue of Puskás is located in the renewed part of Óbuda, in the heart of the new promenade, at the future Puskás Öcsi square. The primary statue was created by sculptor Gyula Pauer, and the side statues by sculptor Dávid Tóth. The tender was announced by the Óbuda-Újlak Community Association in November, the announcement of result took place in December.
