The 12th Budapest Summer Festival awaits its audience between June 12 and August 31 at five venues with more than 110 programs: concerts, opera, theatre, and dance performances among others.
Vice Mayor Alexandra Szalay-Bobrovniczky Alexandra emphasized on Wednesday during her press conference introducing the festival that although the Budapest Spring Festival has just recently ended, here comes a summer festival, “the touristic attractiveness of which is undisputed and that is has a special significance in the cultural life of Budapest”.
Bán Teodóra, executive director of the Szabad Tér Színház, organizing the event series, added that about 90-100 thousand guests are expected to attend the events, to be held at two main venues, the open-air theatres at Margaret Island and in Városmajor.
The festival remains committed to its slogan “More than a theatre, an Experience!”, and just as last year it launches a theatre river cruise. Private lines as well as scheduled cruise boats also stop at the docks of the Open-air Theatre (Szabadtéri Színpad) and the so-called Water Tower (Víztorony).
