Two capital cities, Budapest and the country’s summer capital city – Siófok, were united on the stage of the port of Siófok. István Tarlós, Mayor of Budapest has handed over the symbolic key of the summer capital city to Árpád Balázs, Mayor of Siófok.
The citizens of Budapest have played a great role in the process, following which Siófok had been pronounced as a healing-bath destination, recalled Mayor István Tarlós. Most of the guests nowadays are still from Budapest, just as the owners of the holiday houses. The citizens of Budapest have been visiting Siófok with great pleasure, for more than hundred years.
Árpád Balázs said: Siófok has developed on the one hand thanks to its god given geographical conditions, as a ciy at Lake Balaton, and on the other hand thanks to the citizens of Budapest, who searched for a place, where they can rest and have a good time. It was not by chance that Siófok became this place. During the summer tourist season we are undisputedly leading the market, and the fact that Siófok and Budapest “cohere”, is playing a great role.
