On July 1st Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Mayor István Tarlós have inaugurated the refurbished fountain of Margaret Island, launching it with a symbolic button.
The Mayor’s Cabinet and the city leaders aimed at transforming Margaret Island from an island of carelessness into an island of ease, said Viktor Orbán, implying that according to the Parliament decision, the Municipality of Budapest takes over the control of the island.
The fountain of Margaret Island is among the largest in Europe: with a diameter of 35 meters, its water surface is more than one thousand square meters, contains 400 m³ of water, and from now on is more beautiful, more spectacular, and can cope with Europe’s number one in Barcelona, presented István Tarlós.
The fountain includes a musical water performance as well, during the summer the audience may listen to the songs as follows:
