The Bálna, previously called the CET, may be opened at the end of October, announced Deputy Mayor Gábor Bagdy. He added, the building has received the use permit at the end of May, in June an agreement was reached with the investor, Porto. The obstacles have been removed, the Bálna will finally get at calm waters, said Gábor Bagdy.
The Bálna, as a cultural, gastronomic and commercial centre, may become a representative building of the capital city, its tourism destination, the “Eiffel Tower of Budapest”, said the Deputy Mayor. At level -1, there will be flea market, art treasure and antique market, on the ground floor restaurants and cafés, commercial and service points will fill the places. On the other floors there will possibly be a Design cluster created, which will be a mixture of commerce and culture. There will be place for the Budapest Gallery, and at the “head” of the Bálna, an event venue will be built.
