Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Mayor István Tarlós have signed the Budapest 21 agreement at the ceremony in the City Hall.
“It is my greatest pleasure to celebrate the agreement and express my gratitude for the debt assumption and agreement to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the government” – the Mayor emphasized. He also envisaged concrete cooperation and further agreements between the Cabinet and the capital city. István Tarlós pointed out that the agreement includes the solution for the issue of the city’s public transport on the mid and long term.
We have been working much and for long on this agreement, negotiating thoroughly its content for months. Its conclusion is basically the merit of István Tarlós – declared Viktor Orbán. The Prime Minister said that the government was driven by the thought that Budapest belongs primarily to the people of Budapest, but it is also the nation’s capital, therefore it belongs to everyone: to people in the countryside, Hungarians living in the USA, Transylvania, the historic Southern and Northern Hungary.
The agreement signed is called “Budapest 21” referring to its conception that Budapest shall be one of the most competitive capitals of the world in the 21th century as well.
