The Budapest Summer Festival, organized for the tenth time, awaits its visitors with almost hundred programs, during a three month long period. From classical music concerts, theatrical performances and folk dance to other popular genre, the favourites of different genre will appear at Margaret Island, at the Városmajor Open-air Stage, and the Open-air Stage on Margaret Island, which now celebrates its 75th anniversary.
The local government of the city is proud of the festival, said Deputy Mayor for Culture, Miklós Csomós, during the announcement press conference. He added that the diversity, which marks this summer festival, is typical for the whole cultural life of Budapest, and the leaders of the city consider it important.
The Budapest Summer Festival will also celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Open-air Stage on Margaret Island. The largest and the only built open-air stage in the country, has opened in 1938 to serve the Hungarian theatrical culture. The season opening, with a concert of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, will also take place here, on 14th of June.
