A photo exhibition opened in the Basilica introducing the life of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

On September 17, 2012, the UN General Assembly pronounced 5th September the international day of charity. On that day in 1997, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta has died. On the occasion of this anniversary the Apostolic Nunciature and the Embassy of Albania has jointly organized a holy mass in the Basilica. Following the commemoration Cardinal Dr. Péter Erdő and Mayor István Tarlós have opened the photo exhibition presenting the life of Mother Teresa.

The Municipality of Budapest, considering Mother Teresa as an example to follow, does everything in order to help people struggling with difficulties.  “Over the last years we have created almost a thousand more  accommodations for homeless people, and all our efforts aim at easing the situation of the indigent, and to support them”, said István Tarlós.  The Mayor quoted Mother Teresa: the greatest poverty is when people are not paying attention to each other.

On the occasion of the International Day of Charity, through the initiative of the Apostolic Nunciature, on September 5th the organizers have opened a joint bank account, to which the offers can be transferred, for a period of one month. The whole sum will be provided to the Missionaries of Charity and Budapest Social Centre.

The account number, to which the offers can be transferred is as follows:
