The Danube Region conference of the two-day-long Creative Europe Program took place at the New City Hall. The objective of Creative Europe Program, called by the European Union, is to preserve European cultural diversity and increase the competitiveness of cultural as well as creative industries.
Over the last years Budapest has gone through a great change, it is no longer a post-communist city, but a liveable, loveable, attractive metropolis putting its cultural treasures forward, said Alexandra Szalay-Bobrovniczky. The Vice Mayor for Human Affairs has also emphasized that it is important to learn from other cities, to gain information on successful events from different places, since by that it would be easier for Budapest to reach the goal of complying with higher expectations.
The aim of the conference is to strengthen the role of the regions through the creation of new partnerships within the Creative Europe program. In the framework of the program, between 2014 2020 a total of EUR 454.8 million will be provided for the realization of cultural projects.
