On Tuesday István Tarlós, Mayor of Budapest and Melih Gökçek, Mayor of Ankara have signed a sister city agreement in the Parliament.
The Parties have agreed that the capital cities of Hungary and Turkey will strengthen their cooperation in the field of city management, economy, culture, and tourism. They will mutually support the foreign market appearance of each other’s innovative small and medium sized enterprises, particularly with regard to the health industry, production of medical equipment, and IT sector. In the framework of this cooperation Budapest Days will be organized in Ankara during September 2015, and based on reciprocity later in 2016 the Hungarian capital city will host a similar event.
The above sister city agreement is basing on the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation signed between Budapest and Ankara in 1991.
