The first CAF tram, which will soon arrive to Budapest, has been completed and fully assembled in the company’s factory in Spain. The fleet consisting of 47 carriages is produced in Zaragoza and Beasain, in the Basque Country. The new vehicles will run on the newly refurbished line 1 and 3 as well as the merging tram-network of the Budapest side.
The first carriage is expected to arrive to Budapest this March, and then the test runs, involving brake and acceleration tests, required for the operation permits will start along line 1 and 3. More vehicles will follow the first one in the spring and summer. During the year 25 trams are expected to arrive to Budapest.
Shorter trams will be in service on line 3 as well as on lines 19 and 61, which are part of the merging tram-network of the Buda side, connecting Óbuda and Újbuda.
