The Roma-Net Urbact II project has come to an end with the conference in Budapest. The aim of the program, run by the transnational partnership of nine European cities, is the social acceptance and integration of the Roma citizens. Deputy Mayor Tamás Szentes has opened the closing event of the project in the Kesztyűgyár Community Centre in District VIII Józsefváros.
“Perhaps it is not coincidence that the closing conference is just held in Budapest, since in Hungary there is a century-long tradition of cohabitation of different nationalities”, said the Deputy Mayor for Healthcare and Social Affairs.
During the closing day participants have got acquainted with several urban rehabilitation projects, as well as with a program titled, Budapest Beyond – Presence of Roma people in the city.
