Barcelona Mayor Xavier Trías i Vidal de Llobatera and Budapest Mayor István Tarlós have signed a cultural agreement in Barcelona.
The agreement provides the framework among others for the popularization of Hungarian and Catalan language, cooperation of museums, historical archives and heritage protection institutions, as well as the organization of cultural festivals, erection of historical monuments.
Hungary and Catalonia has a centuries-long significant cultural relation, binding the two nation’s history. In order to preserve and cultivate their common traditions and memories, the two cities consider the maintenance and development of binding cultural relations as their primary task.
