The Municipal Picture Gallery has got back its panting of Sándor Fáy, titled “Óbudai kintornás“, which as a lost painting was listed on the Gallery’s Second World War casualty list.
The painting was found during the preparations for the regular Christmas auction of Abigail Gallery and Auction House, with the old seal of the Museum of Budapest Capital City on the back.
A foreign businessman living in Budapest has handed over the painting, which he has bought in good faith.
