Margaret Island Open-air Stage, the only one permanent open-air theatre in the country with great traditions, will turn 75 years old in 2013. The whole building structure is in need of reconstruction, since the last renovation works were concluded three decades ago.
The first phase including the renovation of the auditorium will be finished by the opening of the 2013 festival season. The renovation will be continued with the partial reconstruction of the service facilities in autumn 2014.
The Open Air Theatre is preparing for the anniversary season with plans exceeding previous year’s offer. The Budapest Summer Festival 2013 intends to open the gates of Budapest, the capital of culture, for national and foreign guests in the spirit of revival.
