The renewed bath Rudas offers European quality service, world-class spawater and classic elegance to Hungarian guests and tourists - said at the ceremony Tamas Szentes Deputy Mayor for Health and Social Affairs. He added, that the investment is part of the concept of the Mayors Office, that Budapest regains its old reputation as a well-known and attractive spatown.
The goal of the renovation was to preserv the historical values of the buliding: the facade and the roof was rebuild according to the original state from the end of the 18th century. The whole building can be used by disabled people, and the buliders used energy efficient solutions.
The Deputy Mayor emphasized that Budapest has to develop the medical and health tourism expanding the services in the city baths and renewing the old, historical spabuildings.
The reconstruction of the 440 years old Rudas costed almost half-billion Forints, cca 80 percent of the cost was financed by the European Union.
