Asha got a multi-tiered cake for her first birthday on 14th February. On the occasion of this notable anniversary the fellow workers of the Zoo have prepared her a surprise, of which Angele, the mother has also received a slice, and neither was Assam, the father, out of the delicacies. Following the toast, the Zoo staff has measured the popular elephant calf, thus now we know that she weighs 515 kg.
The multi-tiered cake placed on the elephants’ runway was received by Asha and Angele with great joy, even if they did not notice it at first, maybe because they were not even expecting such a present. But then, as soon as they discovered it, the feast has begun. After the animals finished eating, both were measured, Asha weighed 515 kg and Angele 2765 kg.
Asha is currently the most popular inhabitant of the Budapest Zoo. During the last 12 months she was symbolically adopted 227 times through the Budapest Zoo Foundation. In order to provide more and more opportunities to visit the elephant calf, the Zoo allowed for children under 14 to enter for free on that Friday, even Saturday and Sunday.
