The construction of the new Fradi stadium has been launched

Following an eight-month period of preparation, the construction of the new stadium of Ferencváros has begun on 28 March. The project will be accomplished during autumn of 2014. Mayor István Tarlós has attended the foundation stone laying ceremony, István Simicskó, State Secretary for Sport at the Ministry of Human Resources, Máté Kocsis, vice president of FTC, János Bácskai, Mayor of Ferencváros, and Gábor Kubatov, president of FTC have laid together the foundation stone on the side of Nagyvárad square.

According to UEFA regulations, the stadium will be turned 90 degrees, therefore its orientation will be north-south. In this way an area of 30,000 sqm will be released, and most probably will be marketed by the Hungarian National Asset Management Inc. With this, the new stadium will not only be the most modern, but also the cheapest ever built in Budapest. Through the construction period the team will play its national matches at Puskás Ferenc Stadium.
