Mayor István Tarlós, Lászlóné Németh, Minister for National Development, and Antal Rogán, Mayor of 5th District of Budapest have jointly inaugurated the renewed Ferenciek tere and its surrounding area.
– Our aim was to make Ferenciek tere and its close area again a worthy part of the city centre, so that it becomes an attractive touristic and recreational zone of the capital city, emphasized in his speech the mayor. – No one could state now that the capital city is not developing or getting nicer, said Mayor István Tarlós. He mentioned for instance the Vigadó, the new Fradi stadium, the Ludovika campus, the Castle Bazaar and the Kossuth square.
The total cost of the project, launched in November 2012, is HUF 3.6 billion, which has been accomplished with the financial support of the European Union and the Hungarian State. Thanks to this investment an area of 35 thousand sqm altogether was renewed in the city centre. With the completion of the investment, an intersection and public area could be rebuilt meeting the requirements of the 21st century. It will provide not only the inhabitants of Budapest, but also the visiting tourists with a decent environment for spending their free time.
