A sister city agreement has been signed between Shanghai and Budapest, by Mayor Yang Xiong and Mayor István Tarlós in the City Hall.
“Within fifteen years Shanghai has developed to an extent, which took New York, the American metropolis, a few decades. During my visit last year, we have agreed to raise tha level of our cooperation by concluding a sister city agreement, and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has expressed his strong support toward this initiative”, said Mayor István Tarlós.
With the present agreement, Shanghai has become the 8th sister city of Budapest. According to the agreement the parties foster the exchange of experience and cooperation in the field of economy, education, city management, tourism, culture, protection of historic buildings, and they also support the cooperation of districts and counties in towards the common wealth and development.
